The Hot Source! project, funded by AHRC, is organizing an online workshop on January 24th, 2024, as part of its training activities from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm.
This workshop is designed for researchers who want to reinforce their skills in using NVivo for qualitative data analysis. Participants will learn the fundamentals of web scraping, the extraction of research material from webpages (Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, search engines) and how to use NVivo to collect data from websites.
The attendees will be introduced to the basics of web scraping, acquiring skills in extracting research material from webpages, and will learn how to utilize NVivo for collecting and analysing data obtained from websites.
In addition, participants will explore techniques for collecting data from social media platforms and importing social media data into NVivo. They will learn how to analyse social media data using NVivo’s NCapture feature and its functionalities.
The workshop will also cover the topic of visualizing data in NVivo. Participants will learn how to create visualizations such as word clouds, charts, and diagrams to represent their data in a visual and meaningful way.
To reinforce learning and apply the concepts covered in the workshop, participants will engage in practical exercises and activities. These hands-on exercises will allow participants to practice using NVivo and gain confidence in their data analysis skills.
Overall, this workshop is suitable for researchers who want to enhance their data analysis capabilities using NVivo. Additional support is available on the workshop Qualitative data analysis using NVivo. The researchers with intermediate-level experience in NVivo can benefit from this workshop by expanding their knowledge and skills in web scraping, social media data analysis, and visualization.
In addition to this workshop, participants can register for a 1:1 ‘Practical Surgery’ session on 31st January.
