The University of Brighton was recently awarded a large grant from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) under the Embed digital skills in arts and humanities research scheme (£395K). Led by PI Dr Karina Rodriguez Echavarria (Director of the Research Centre for Secure, Intelligent and Usable Systems, UoB) and Co-I Dr Claire Wintle (Co-Director of the Centre for Design History, UoB), the award will enable a multidisciplinary research team to co-design and pilot a training framework in digital skills for researchers and practitioners in the Arts and Humanities. The project will run from February 2023 to January 2024.
In this one-hour introductory online webinar, Dr Rodriguez and her team will share plans for the regional Training Centre pilot and answer questions from the audience to support the development of a community of practice.
We will discuss needs and plans to support colleagues who specialise in visual and material culture research in the Higher Education sector, Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums (GLAM), and the creative industries to improve their current and future digital skills. Our focus is on scoping the needs of the sector, as well as developing and evaluating training activities that will support the creation, management and use of multidimensional (2D/3D) digital media.
