Workshop: Capturing Heritage Craft in 2.5D and 3D

Thursday 20th 09:30am – 6:00pm, Friday 21st 9:30am – 4:30pm

University of Brighton

The AHRC-funded Digital Skills In Visual And Material Culture network service will host a two-day workshop as part of its training activities on 20-21 June 2024, at the University of Brighton.

The workshop aims to upskill researchers and practitioners in 3D digitisation methods for enhancing the documentation of visual and material culture with an emphasis on craft. The sessions will focus on creating 3D models using photogrammetry, as well as capturing Reflectance Transformation Imaging (RTI) data, both methods useful for the documentation and access of Cultural Heritage assets and craft outputs. During the sessions we will explore the different parts of the photogrammetry and RTI process (equipment, setup, data acquisition and processing), and will look at different types of use cases/examples in the arts and humanities environment. The workshop focuses on material culture within Higher Education, Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums (GLAMs), and the creative industries, as well as crafting communities around the world.

If you encounter any issues with the registration, please get in touch with info@culturedigitalskills.org

Cost and Registration

The workshop is free, but we request that attendees register through Eventbrite. All participants will have to commit to attending the workshop for two days. Attendees will need to bring their own laptops for the training, and please let us know if this is an issue at the time of registration.

We are able to offer this event without a registration fee thanks to our funding. If for whatever reason, you register and become aware that you will no longer be able to join us, please consider cancelling your registration, as this will help us avoid incurred costs.
